Summer Strawberries and Pound Cake!

As we celebrate the start of summer and the season of strawberries we can’t think of a more fitting dessert that holds a special place in almost everyone’s heart than Strawberry Shortcake. This is a great time to take your family to your local berry farm and pick big, sweet, red and juicy strawberries. Then come home and bake a homemade Byrd Mill Old Virginia Pound cake, using our delicious and easy mix. Bake it, slice it and load it with strawberries and whip cream.The perfect desert to kick off the summer. Enjoy!

Old Virginia Pound Cake Mix


1 pkg. Old Virginia Pound Cake Mix
1 stick of butter (no substitutes)
1/4 cup solid shortening
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream together the butter and shortening until light and fluffy. Add other ingredients and mix well. Pour into a greased and floured 9x5x3 loaf pan and bake at 325 degrees for approx. 1 hour.
