Gluten Free Old Virginia Pound Cake

No one should go without a little something sweet on Valentine’s Day. To make it extra special, dress up your pound cake with Homemade Vanilla Glaze Icing and top it off with a selection of colorful sprinkles. We have something sweet for everyone at Byrd Mill.

Ingredients for Gluten Free Old Virginia Pound Cake:

1 package of Gluten Free Old Virginia Pound Cake
1 stick butter
¼ cup shortening
3 eggs
½ cup milk
½ teaspoon Byrd Mill Vanilla Extract (optional)

Cream together the butter and shortening until light and fluffy. Add other ingredients and mix well. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan and back in a 325 degree oven for approximately 1 hour or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Homemade Vanilla Glaze

1 ½ cups confectioner’s sugar
2 Tablespoons water
½ teaspoon Byrd Mill Vanilla Extract

Mix confectioner’s sugar, water and vanilla in a medium bowl until smooth. Stir in additional teaspoons of water until glaze is the right consistency. Drizzle and spread over cooled Virginia pound cake. Add sprinkles and love hearts, and let stand until glaze is set.
